Making of New route

In other GPS moving maps software , the making of route is simple , if you create waypoints and click route, it will connect all waypoints and route is made.
or as you click the wayoints, they can be set to connect to form a route.
In Global mapper, there is no special status for waypints , we have to create first points and manually create a line feature to make a route.
Route preparation, is an essential feature for cross country pipe lines and highways etc
May please look into this. We can also take a cue from popular GPS moving map softwares f
Thanks

Global Mapper is really not targeted at GPS users as it is more of a fully functional GIS product. I would suggest just creating your waypoints, then use the Digitizer Tool to create a new line feature, manually connecting your waypoints. The snapping functionality of the Digitizer Tool will make the new line feature snap to your waypoints so long as you click sufficiently near them when drawing your new line.
Thanks,
Mike

Again I agree partiallly. I am not sure whether any Infrastructure planner or the like can be just content with a GIS unless it is field verified. When a line feature is created it is obviously for some field use. GPS feature is also incorporated in Global Mapper.
These are suggestions after actually experiencing the issue and having felt the ease and convenience of another product and after a considered thought. If you feel that present product is perfect and not open to suggestions, I will accordingly follow instead of reiterating that product does not require a change. Any product, how it evolves would depend on many factors and one major factor is user requirement. -
We are certainly open to suggestions, there just hasn't been much interest in route creation for GPS devices until now so it's not high on our priority list. Most of our users will likely do their field-verification using the built-in access to high-resolution imagery or by tracking a GPS device in real-time. We may add more GPS-specific functionality at a later date as user demand and our availability (remember I'm the only developer!) allows.
Thanks,
Mike

Oh. It is great to be interacting with you. Without an iota of hesitation, I am really amazed at the ease and capability of your product and its fast development into one of the most indispensable GIS products. Yes, I agree, each product has its own specialization, I just did not want to leave Global Mapper to open another GPS program to do routing and bring it in Global mapper as GPX.
I would like to know more about you and the genesis of Global Mapper more than what is generally published.
Please believe me .This is not flattery. 100% Truth.

Here's the short version of Global Mapper's history:
I developed an application called dlgv32 when I worked for the USGS in college in the mid 90's. This application was a simple mapping application for display of USGS data formats, namely DLGs, then later DRGs and DEMs. After I had graduated and moved on for a couple of years, they contacted me requesting that I develop a commercial version and allow them to distribute a feature-limited version. This was done under the name of dlgv32 Pro in 2000. It was later renamed Global Mapper, although the USGS still distributes it under the name dlgv32 Pro (Global Mapper). Since then the Global Mapper application has continued to evolve into a more and more functional application, with the focus still being on ease of use.
Thanks,
Mike

Nice. For that matter, I can call me at best a novice in this field . However I would say that Global Mapper makes my my job much easier and faster . Wishing you all the best in your endeavors.
