kml to dxf (Extracting attributes from KML descriptions)
I have a kml file, which I would like to convert to dxf or shape file. The elevation was stored in descriptions and I want to extract it. Is it possible?

Hi Bigirver, I'd say yes it probably can be extracted, but could you please upload the kml file so we can try?

Hi Bigirver.
Please find exported contours as dxf in attached zip file. When exporting from GM to AutoCAD select dxf format and create 3D features using loaded elevation data, as per screen grabs below.

Sorry, forgot to say that you should also first off re-project to a cartesian grid datum and projection, as your kml file was non-linear i.e. lat/lon in degrees. If you re-project to WGS84/UTM 36South it will work. AutoCAD can only work with linear units.

thanks.
