How to CREATE custom area type

Is there a way to add/create area type via scripting?
EDIT_VECTOR AREA_TYPE allows me to specify an existing type. I would like to create custom ones.
thanks

OK I have added the custom TYPEs to GM via the tools > configure so no need to create them via script.
But I have a problem... I am not able to assign the TYPE to the polygon created via script.
IMPORT FILENAME="%FNAME_W_DIR%" TRANSPARENT_COLOR=RGB(255,255,255)
GENERATE_EQUAL_VAL_AREAS ATTR_NAME="Decidious"
EDIT_VECTOR AREA_TYPE="Decidious-Forest" -
If you run the script with File->Run Script are there any errors shown? That script looks ok (with a header line at the top of course), assuming the custom area type that you created is named 'Decidious-Forest'. Shouldn't that be 'Deciduous' though, not 'Decidious'?
Thanks,
Mike

it looks like the type was assigned to the polygons but pls confirm, since I am having a problem with another program that should read that type but it doesn't.
thanks Mike!

Yep, that screenshot shows that the type was set to the 'Decidious-Forest' type.
Thanks,
