GPS - Trimble GeoExplorer 6000 Support

Support,
Does Global Mapper 14.0 support a GPS connection to a Trimble GeoExplorer 6000 Series hand-held device?
The connection from the GPS device is mini-USB.
If possible, what are the settings in the GPS setup?
Thanks, Keith

It looks like you have to install a patch from Trimble to enable NMEA output from that model, but once you do that Global Mapper should be able to track it. See http://trl.trimble.com/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-547027/SprtNote-GeoExplorer6000Series-Option_Activation_Wizard-English.pdf for details on updating your unit.

We looked at the link you sent. Our NMEA output was already enabled. We tried many of the settings on the GM setup page and couldn't seem to connect. I can't believe we are the only GM users that have tried to connect to a Trimble hand-held GPS device. We have an active maintenance agreement with GM Order#: 135053-T58FM8WZ.
Maybe someone could give us a call to discuss.
There looks to be an application download at Trimble - GeoExplorer 3000 Series GeoXH Handheld Support for enabling connecting external GNSS software (like Global Mapper) over NMEA to your device. Your best bet would be to get support from Trimble to first make sure their device and drivers are setup to provide a NMEA stream to the connected Windows machine at all. Once that is confirmed and you know which virtual COM port the NMEA data should be coming in on, then you can set up Global Mapper to listen on that port.
