Offset a line
Jake
Global Mapper UserTrusted User
Ability to select a line and specify a right or left offset as measured from the vertices.
Perhaps incorporate into the Rotate/Scale function and rename a Rotate/Scale/Shift. However, leaving the original line intact and creating a new line should be an option.

Do you mean adjust each vertex some distance to the left or right, so each new point might be a different direction than another? That could result in some weird stuff in some cases. Maybe the existing shift/offset option where you just shift the entire feature some amount in some direction works? That way you don't change the shape of the feature?
Thanks,
Mike

I realized after posting that that was not very clear and it will only work in the case for a line with only two vertices (the ends). The only caveat is make sure to determine the perpendicular azimuth properly since the segment will have slightly different geodetic azimuths thus perpendicular azimuths.

Ok I'll add that to the todo list for 2 point lines.
Thanks,
