Certain ZIP files only with GM12?

SRTM1 DEM Global Data from DLR are zipped in 258 files. Obviously, these ZIPs can be read only into GM12. Before I tried with GM11, now with GM13 - no success: "Error extracting E000N00_SRTM1DEM.asc. Damaged or not a zip file."
Surely I could work around by "re-zipping" this data set (69.9 GB), but this seems not to be the general solution. Please give support.

Ralf,
There are some corrupted .zip files that Global Mapper v13 wouldn't read that earlier versions would. We have just updated GM 13 to now read those again and just ignore the corruption. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper13.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v13.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v13 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper13_64bit.zip .
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
I tried the new version, 32-bit as well as 64-bit, but it doesn't work. GM12_64-bit, however, does.
When I downloaded these data from DLR in June, I made an "amputation" of the original ZIPs by means of 7-zip, to preserve only the .asc files. But could this lead to corrupted ZIP files?
It is Saturday afternoon now, you should think of your weekend too. Let's continue on Monday.

Ralf,
If you can provide a sample file I can take a look and see exactly where the un-zip library is failing on them and why v12 did not. Could be that 7-zip is doing something incorrectly.
Thanks,

Mike,
You are unbelievable, maybe a workoholic? - Attached I uploaded the smallest of the ZIPs showing the error (W030N30_SRTM1DEM). There are some other small ones that work; the smallest of them (W060N10_SRTM1DEM) added too.

Ralf,
I took a look and was update Global Mapper to ignore the problems in your .zip and it loads ok. Just looks like some invalid encoding at the end of the .zip but nothing that affects the data. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper13.zip with the change for you to try.
