3CD or 3TX DEM format

Hi Mike
Have you ever heard of the 3CD or 3TX DEM format?
It seems that it's from micropath.com and it's used in Integrated Noise Model (INM) software.
I would be interested if you could implement this format.
Many Thanks
Iaorana

Iaorana,
I am not familiar with those formats, but I will ask my contact at Micropath about them.
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks Mike that will be great.
If you need I could try to find a sample.

Iaorana,
Would you need import or export support for those? I'm in communication with the Micropath guy and he says 3TX doesn't sounds familiar to him and 3CD is an old format for 3-arc-second DEM files from the USGS that was replaced long ago by SRTM.
Thanks,
Mike

Yes I do. It's probably an old format but it's actually used by INM software that is commonly used in aeronautical.

In their manual they gave the micropath address.
I would like to export my local DEM in this format and if possible import too.

Iaorana,
If you can provide some samples that would be helpful. Is this the only format that software can use or does it support more modern formats?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike
INM accepts DTED but as I have my data in RGNC Lambert New Caledonia It says that DTED export might be not usable in other software and it's the case.
It also uses FLT but export FLT from GM doesn't work.
I have attached 3cd and 3tx sample.

Hi mike
Have you been able to go further?

Iaroana,
I actually just this morning received the documentation on the 3CD format, although I'm told it is only used by one product they are about to discontinue. Looks pretty easy though so I'll go ahead and add support. Waiting to hear on 3TX, they weren't initially familiar with that one.
Thanks,
Mike

Iaroana,
I have completed adding import support for the 3CD and 3TX formats. Is 3TX the only one that you need export support for? Sounds like from what I've read that is what INM supports.
I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper13.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v13.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v13 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper13_64bit.zip .
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike
Thanks, I gave a try and could find INM 3TX and micrograph 3CD file as an import but not as an export possible file in export elevation grid format menu.

I haven't added them as export yet, I wanted to confirm which one you needed for export first. It sounds to me like INM uses 3TX so you would want an export added for that, correct?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike
Sorry I didn't understand you were waiting for an answer.
3TX would be the one needed to be used in INM.
Thanks

Iaorana,
I have completed adding support for exporting to the INM 3TX format.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike
Thanks. Export went well. Change of projection etc...
But when using in INM It says invalid terrain elevation data in 3tx file.
Looking at the file it seems that nodata was set at -9999. Could it come from there?
I have replaced -9999 by 0 in 3tx file as text file and will try tomorrow in INM.
Iaorana -
Iaorana,
I wasn't sure what no-data was in 3TX and since 0 is perfectly valid I didn't want to use that. However since it doesn't like -9999 I went ahead and switched it to 0. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper13.zip with the change for you to try.
