Overlay Control Center: Dynamic Groups from Directory Contents

Hi,
I have a suggestion which is partly related with this thread.
It would be very useful to have dynamic groups which are defined by a group name, an associated directory in the file system and possibly a wildcard filename scheme (or a file type specification). On opening the workspace (or reloading the group from the control center) the group members would be generated dynamically (and included in the list as separate layers inside the group) by importing all files from the specified directory matching the wildcard scheme or the file type.
This would ease workflows including other applications and could also be nice for the handling of tracklogs or routes without the need to import every single file.
What do you think about this?
Best regards,
mtb

You could do this now by creating a custom script named as a workspace (.gmw) file and using the IMPORT_DIR_TREE command to import all of the files matching some mask and assign a group name to them.
Thanks,

Thank you, Mike! The IMPORT_DIR_TREE command is very helpful here.
But I think it's not possible to automatically assign a group name upon importing the files, correct?
Something like IMPORT_DIR_TREE DIRECTORY="..." FILENAME_MASKS="*.gpx" ASSIGN_GROUP="My Group Name" would be cool.

I tried IMPORT_DIR_TREE DIRECTORY="..." FILENAME_MASKS="*.gpx" GROUP_NAME="Test"
and got the following warning: Unknown Paramter <GROUP_NAME> ignored.

Sorry that should be LAYER_GROUP, not GROUP_NAME.
Thanks,
Mike
