GM v11.01

I am new to using Electronic Navigation Charts (S-57). My understanding is the the ".000" files are the base datasets and subsequent updates use sequential extensions (e.g., .001, .002, .003, etc.) GM loads the .000 files without any problem -

How do you load the ENC update files? When I attempt to open .001, .002, etc., I select S-57 as the file type and receive the following error:
---

Error loading S57 data.
Can't apply updates to a base file with a different extension than .000.

S57Overlay.cpp - 1486
Build Time: Nov 20 2009 17:10:30

----

What is correct method for loading the ENC updates?

Thanks,
Tim

    Tim,

You just need to load the .000 file. Global Mapper will automatically find any update file in the same folder and apply those when loading the .000 file.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

Is it possible to determine (highlight, etc.) the updates provided by each file?

    Thanks,

    Tim,

That's not currently possible. The S-57 library that we use just applies the updates automatically and they look just like any other feature to us by the time we get them.

Just a clarification of this point. Will GM look for updates in subfolders below the 000 file?

Update files should be looked at in the same folder as the .000 files and also in sub-folders named for the update number, like '1/filename.001', '2/filename.002', etc.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

No that is perfect. Although I should have said relative to the 000 files the updates are not in the child folder but here.

    \0\file.000
    \1\file.001
    \2\file.002

Hmm I'm not sure that they would be found there. The update detection is from a 3rd-party library so it's hard to so for sure. Can you provide a data set and I'll check it out?

    Thanks,

I received the sample and have verified that update files setup as in your sample will be loaded, so all should be good.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
