Unhandled exception errors with v12

Just upgraded to v12. Getting a lot of errors like:

Unhandled exception processing command message.
ViewerUtils.h - 516
Version: v12.00
Build Time: Oct 4 2010 21:42:39

This particular one pops up when I try to save a workspace. But other things also seem to be causing them.

Windows 7 64 bit.

Here's another one. Popped up when zooming out.

Unknown error while rendering overlays, you should probably save and quit.
Read access violation at data address 0x00000178,
    program address 0x00835D3F.

    I can duplicate the error.

    Load a SRTM hgt file
Create a new map catalog containing the hgt file
Try to do anything involving file operation (save, export, etc.)

Returns error every time for me.

    Matt,

Thanks for the detailed description, I was able to reproduce the ViewerUtils.h error from saving a workspace file with a new map catalog of elevation layers in it and get that fixed. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper12.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v12.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v12 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper12_64bit.zip .

Let me know if you can get the access violation error to occur again.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Thanks Mike. Looks like that sort of fixed it. But still having the issue. I can now load a workspace with elevation layer and export to an elevation grid (before that resulted in an error). But I still get the same error if I try to export to a Raster.

Also, if I do the following steps it will give the error when exporting to an elevation grid.

    1) Load hgt file
    2) Create New Map Catalog, save it somewhere, click Add Loaded Files, but don't exit GM, and don't close the original hgt file. So you have both the Map Catalog and the hgt file listed in Overlay Control Center.
    3) Export Elevation Grid Results in error every time.

If I exit GM and load the Map Catalog, it works fine. If I close the original hgt file, the export will also work with just the Map Catalog File.

    Unhandled exception processing command message.

    Matt,

I've fixed that now, hopefully that's the last of the problems related to this issue.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

Thanks, so far so good. Only other bug I've noticed is that sometimes when there are a lot of layers in Control Center, using CTRL and SHIFT to select multiple layers produces strange results.

I have porblems with importing GMC:s (Global Mapper Catalogs) back to v12 (64-bit). I generate the catalog in V11 (64-bit) and when I try to import it into v12 I get this:
    "Error loading map catalog data.
    MapCatalogOverlay.cpp - 868
    Version: v12.00
    Build Time: Oct 11 2010 11:19:59"

No problem with importing it in V11.

EDIT: just downloaded the latest build and it works all right. Thanks, Mike.

    Unhandled exception processing command message.
Invalid parameter detected in function .

Get what's above upon my first try to web export to GoogleMaps. By 2nd try process completes, but wonder if there might be some elements in the export not quite coming through correctly that I have not noticed, yet.

Does that error appear for you immediately, after setting up the dialog, or some ways through the export? How large of an area are you trying to export and to what zoom level?

    Thanks,

Error appears immediately. Doesn't seem to matter the zoom level. Happens using default and happens using different values from the default.

When you say immediate do you mean immediately after pressing OK and then selecting the HTML filename to save to? What is the default zoom level and how large of an area are you trying to export?

    Thanks,
