Legend Based on Attribute Value

Maybe I'm just not doing something right. But seems like Legend tool for vector data would be much more useful if the legend could be based on Attribute Values, instead of Area Classification.
For example, lets say I have a SHP file with polygons with one of Attributes called "Type". There are 10 possible values for the Type Attribute. I can color the polygons so that all of Type 1 are the same color, all of Type 2 are the same color, etc. But when I go to create the legend, it is based on the classification of the polygons, which is the same for all of them because they are all in the same SHP file. I'd like to create a Legend that shows
Type 1 - COLOR
Type 2 - COLOR
etc.
Hopefully that makes sense.

Matt,
I think that the legend could be expanded to support basing the labels on something other than the feature description, like an attribute value. I will look at adding this.
Thanks,

Matt,
I have updated the map layout dialog to support selecting what to use as the label on the legend, including the feature description, type, label, or any attribute. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v11.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit version, there is a new build available at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11_64bit.zip .
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
in order to use attributes in the legend, I downloaded the new build in the post above, but when I try to extract it in my global mapper installation folder, , I get the message : unable to create global_mapper11.exe. Access denied. And when I try to extract in my downloading folder, I get the message : lti_dsdk_dll.dll is missing.
the .zip I downloaded is 8.7 Mo, and contains only global_mapper11.exe.
Am I doing something wrong ?
Thanks

You need to make sure to extract the contents of the .zip files over your existing v11 installation (likely in 'C:\Program Files\Global Mapper 11') as the .zip file isn't a full installer, just a patch for an existing installation.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike
