Map Catalog- LAS/LAZ Metadata

Hi Mike,

It would be nice when working with las/laz map catalogs to have the possibility to see the same metadata/statistics for the files as we see when the files are loaded individually in control center.
Also, is there a way to export (to a .csv maybe) the statistics for las/laz files in a batch mode? Something similar with Batch GeoTiff to Geotiff / Generate only metadata files.

Thanks,

Remi

    Another issue,

The FLIGHT_TIME in the Metadata tab , for las/laz files, indicates the data that the files was last saved and not the actual flight data. Is this intended?

    Remi,

It could be difficult to get the stats for Lidar into the map catalog since the catalog doesn't have everything loaded. However we are planning on adding a script command to save the Lidar stats to a text file. So with that you could run through loaded layers and generate text stats files for every layer. I'll add this thread to our task item for that so you will be notified when that is ready.

The FLIGHT_TIME metadata comes right from the flight date in the LAS/LAZ header, so you should be seeing whatever was written for that value when the file was first created.

    Thanks,

    Mike

This was implemented by adding a new parameter to the EXPORT_METADATA script command: ADD_LIDAR_STATS="YES". This appears in the latest beta for Global Mapper 15.

    Example:

    EXPORT_METADATA FILENAME="\LIDAR\MyLidarLasFile.LAS" ADD_LIDAR_STATS="YES" METADATA_FILENAME="stats.txt"
    EXPORT_METADATA FILENAME="*.LAS" ADD_LIDAR_STATS="YES" METADATA_FILENAME="stats.txt"
