Las problem loading

Hello I get problems trying to load some las files:

Case 1:

There must be at least 3 unique locations with elevation values in order to triangulation and grid the data.
and after pressing ok
Error loading test.las
GenericASCIIOverlay.cpp - 2871

Case 2:
Error loading surface.las
TriangulatedSurface.cpp - 571

Are the las files corrupted or something else might be the problem?

Thank you,
Dana

    Dana,

What version of the SDK are you using? It sounds like the version you are using isn't recognizing the elevations from the LAS files, or perhaps you have filters setup when loading the LAS and none of the points in the LAS file match those filters (either class or return type)?

    Thanks,

    Hello,

    The error I get is:

    GlobalMapperInterface
    Error loading test.las
    GenericASCIIOverlay.cpp - 3176
    Version: v1.37
    Build Time: Sep 14 2011 22:31:35
    Use Ctrl+V to Paste Error
    OK

I have the 1.37 version . The problem is that some other projects are loading. If there is something wrong with the project what could it be?

    Thank you,
    Dana

    Dana,

Can you provide the LAS file in question? That is a very old SDK (well old by Global Mapper software standards :) The Lidar support was significantly upgraded in the recent v14.1 release of the SDK, but it should have worked fine in the older ones as well, so long as the files weren't very large. Newer versions can handle billions of points, old ones were limited to 10 million or so.

    Thanks,

    Dana,

You can FTP it to ftp.globalmapper.com with a username of 'upload@globalmapper.com' and a password of 'upload'.

When loading the same las file multiple times in row it gives me
    GlobalMapperInterface
    Unable to open file
    Gutzmer surface.las
    Out of memory.
    LidarLasOverlay.cpp - 1071
    Version: v1.37
    Build Time: Sep 14 2011 22:31:35
    Use Ctrl+V to Paste Error
    OK

If it is the version thing you said what would be the cost for an upgrade?

    Thank you,
    Dana

    Dana,

That file certainly loads and grids just fine in the latest release. It only has about 250,000 points so I would expect it to take several loads even in the older version to run out of memory. In the latest version you could load the same file a thousand times and still not run out of memory!

You would need to contact gmorders@bluemarblegeo.com and they can provide you information on moving to the latest SDK. The versions are now sync'ed up with the Global Mapper application versions, so v14.1 is the latest.

    Thanks,
