GM 14 unregistered when offline

I recently upgraded to GM14 and completed the registration process online. However GM is installed on a laptop and sometimes I want to use when not online, such as in an airplane. I get an error message saying it is not registered and I will only have restricted use. Once I am in a place where I have an Internet connection it works fine. This was not a problem for GM 13 How do I get GM 14 to work regardless of whether or not I am online at any particular moment?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

We have seen similar problems due to a transient network adapter being picked up as the host ID for registration, so when that adapter goes away the host ID no longer exists. We have a new build which does a better job of picking up the host ID from the permanent Ethernet adapter and not one of the temporary ones, so if you get a new build that should likely fix the issue. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper14.zip with the latest changes for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v14.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v14 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper14_64bit.zip .
You may need a new license file though, so you might have to email as at gmsupport@bluemarblegeo.com with your .lic file (see Help->About dialog for location) so we can de-activate that one and issue a new one with what the new build reports as the host id.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks Mike, that seems to have done it. I was able to fire up GM 14 when not connected to the Internet.

I am still using v13, but planning to upgrade to v14 and install GM into our new workstation for cpu intensive gis works. The workstation will use vmware to create a virtualize pc environment. I wish to understand whether the activation of v14 can work in my situation.

Yes, GM14 should work fine on a virtual PC environment.
Thanks,
