Merging two *map data files with a gap

Hello,
I have two *map files of adjacent areas. When I open them in GM there is a gap of little width between them (attached a picture), probably because of poor alignment of scanning from hardcopies.
Thus, the question is: How can I adjust those data for the whole map to have continuous contours as they were in hardcopy?
Thanks in advance for any help.

You could right-click on one of the layers in the Control Center and select either to shift the map some fixed distance, or if the gap is more complex than that you could select the Reposition/Rectify option. Then supply control points along the border to tie the contours together. However if this is really a gap in the data and not just a shift that wouldn't be pretty.
As your map looks to be just contours a better solution might be to create a new elevation grid from the layer (assuming they are vectors) from the right-click menu, then use File->Generate Contours to generate new contour lines from the terrain. This would be seamless.
Thanks,
Mike
