Problem with WMS Service
Flugwerk
Global Mapper User
I get an error message when trying to open a WMS data source (see attached screenshot). The WMS service works fine with MapInfo Professional and also with QuantumGIS.

The version of this WMS service is 1.3.0
Any suggestions?
Best Regards,
Heinrich

Heinrich,
I would first suggest updating to at least the Global Mapper v13.2 release (see links below) as a lot of improvements to WMS sources have been made since the version that you have.
32-bit: http://www.globalmapper.com/downloads/global_mapper13_setup.exe
64-bit: http://www.globalmapper.com/downloads/global_mapper13_setup_64bit.exe
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike, thank you for the fast response.
I have the same problem with v14.0.2
Error getting WMS server capabilities
Service Exception getting WMS server capabilities:
Custom GetCapabilities file has not valid content.
OGCWMSCapabilities.cpp - 553
Version: v14.0.2 (64-bit)
Build Time: Oct 5 2012 22:50:54
I can send you the GetCapabilities XML file, it is version 1.3.0.

Heinrich,
Yes if you can sent the GetCapabilities XML or perhaps provide the full source URL then I could try it myself and see what is wrong.

Heinrich,
The version is the problem. Global Mapper defaults to requesting at version 1.1.1 and that server apparently only works at 1.3.0. I am working on an automatic fix, but for now you should be able to get it to work by making the service name 'WMS&VERSION=1.3.0'.
Thanks,
Mike

I've got it working automatically now. It will try 1.1.1, then try with no VERSION, then finally try 1.3.0. The second works just fine. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper14.zip with the latest changes for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v14.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v14 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper14_64bit.zip .
Thanks,
Mike
