Hi,

Do you still working on the Intergraph Geomedia .mdb access files format compatibility in your todo list ?

Would be so great to be able to import those files directly into GM, and moreover to have the possibility to connect it directly as a spatial database.

Can you tell me when it will be available ? ... in the 14.1 release
;) ??

Thanks

Criquet

    Criquet,

Do you have any sample Intergraph .mdb files that you could supply us to test with? There isn't nearly as much documentation or library support for the Intergraph MDB files as for Esri ones, but perhaps with some samples we could figure something out.

    Thanks,

Yes Mike, I do Have some. How could I send you that ? ... I don't see any option to attach files except images or videos in this forum.
I have one very light (720ko) that represents points features. Does a file with only one feature type is enough ? If not, I can send you more, but it will be more heavy (160Mo...)

    Thanks

    Criquet,

You could attach it to a post here as a .zip file, although I do find the attachment handling on the forum unnecessarily cumbersome for a one-time post. You can also email it to gmsupport@bluemarblegeo.com.

    Thanks,

    Mike,

Here are the files, one containing points geometry type, and one containing one area geometry type. Please tell me if you need lines. Projection is in Mercator WGS84, Lat 0 and lon 0
Hope it will help you to improve GM with Geomedia compatibility.
Please keep us informed about that !

    Thanks

Thank you we will take a look when we get a chance and see if we can possibly load these.

Good news we now have support for Geomedia MDB files in Global Mapper v14 builds. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper14.zip with the latest changes for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v14.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v14 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper14_64bit.zip .

    Mike,
Thank you for this ehancement ! It will be very usefull for many users.
I can now import mdb files as spatial databases into GM. But I don't succeed in exporting data from GM to mdb files (reverse process). I've tried to export as vector data and export as spatial database, and I don't see any option for making mdb files. Is there a trick to do it ? It would be great to be able to split exported vector data in the same way that when exporting vector data as shapefiles (i.e. split by layer names) and to crop the export within a specified area. Is it possible to do it ?

Currently there is only read support for Geomedia MDB files as the library that we used only has read support. You can of course export the data to any other format, perhaps you can use one of those to get the data back into Geomedia?

    Thanks,

OK. I know that I can export to any other format and then import it into Geomedia, this is what I do for now. But Geomedia is a quite strict and it's long and difficult to import another format than mdb. I hope to be able to export to the mdb format soon from GM to speed up my processes.

    Thanks
