You can actually build that right into the symbol name field. For example if the symbol name is 'Tower' and you want to make it 3 times as large as normal, use 'Tower@SCALE=3' for the symbol name. You can also embed rotation angles and sense in the name as well using @SENSE and @ANGLE.

I can understand clearly mike, where I do that ,"string for name" or point styles, if it is at point styles option, I just see "custom dot, cross,diamond,star.." there isnt tower symbol e.g
-
by the way, I am using 13.2 ,I dont find how I write "tower@SCALE or DOT_3_255_255_0 e.g" manually
-
There is a point symbol named 'Tower'. You can't write the string directly in Global Mapper, you would use it as part of an attribute name when loading a file. So if you loaded say a CSV file with a SYMBOL column, you could make the value of that column 'Tower@SCALE=3@ANGLE=45' to create a Tower symbol 3 times the normal size and rotated clockwise 45 degrees. Global Mapper would parse it on import to create the proper internal representation.

Aha I see but is it difficult to add to "new value" options in the "set up styling based on value" as shape size and rotate?
also, already, there are from "<custom cross shape to vert bar shape"
I have a lot of borehole points that have several attributes like thickness,calori,ash......forexemple thickness:1m, point size:1
thickness:2, point size :2...... like earthquake magnitude or city population. -
Oh sorry, I see what you mean now. If you use one of the custom shape symbols where you specify a color and size, like the <custom dot shape> at the top of the list, if you have different attribute values with different sizes and colors and choose to interpolate between values, the sizes and colors should smoothly blend based on the numeric attribute values.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike

Ok Mike, I do that, however for <custom shape> there are just "cross, diamond, dot, square, star, triangle and bar" styles, forexemple there are no custom shape options for tower, well..
may be add "symbol size option " to "select point symbol" in "new value" in "set up styling based on values "
thanks... -
I have now updated the point symbol selection to include a scale option for any symbol. So now you can setup adjacent attribute-based symbols with the same symbol type but different scales and the scale for intermediate values will smoothly vary between them. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper14.zip with the latest changes for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v14.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v14 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper14_64bit.zip .

Mike

Mike,
This is incredibly timely - thanks! Just curious, is this found in the Configure--> Point Styles or in the Options--> Point Styles? I have an attibute of "size" that I would like to use to scale my symbols.
C. -
That's in the Options->Point Styles dialog.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
I have been unable to get my symbols to scale. I'm using v14.0.3. I have a CSV file with an attribute of size, among others. I would like my symbol size to vary with this number. I hate to ask, but can you give step-by-step instructions for this? I'm usually not this dense, but I have clearly missed something and seem to be running myself in circles.
Thanks,
C. -
You need to put the scale factor or size right in the symbol name. So you might have a tower twice its normal size with a SYMBOL column formatted like 'Tower@SCALE=2'.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike
