Blue Marble Geographics is pleased to announce the availability of the initial beta release of Global Mapper v14.0.
You can download and install the v14.0 beta from the links below. Global Mapper v14.00 will install alongside any older version of Global Mapper so you don't have to worry about overwriting any of your existing files or losing your currently registered version. After installing, you can request a 2 week trial from the initial registration dialog that appears.
32-bit: http://www.globalmapper.com/downloads/global_mapper14_setup.exe

- A significantly reorganized Digitizer right-click menu with functions conveniently organized by type along with a new Favorites toolbar that allows quick access to commonly used commands
- The addition of a new convenient Terrain Analysis menu containing such functions as Generate Contours, Combine Terrain Layers, Generate Watershed, and other terrain tools.
- Support for Web Feature Services (WFS) providing access to online vector data sources
- Support for exporting loaded data to CADRG/CIB, ASRP/ADRG, and Garmin JNX format files
- A new tool for calculating the volume between two terrain surfaces
- A new terrain analysis tool for delineating ridgelines
- Improved attribute searching with the option to select specific layers to search
- Enhanced Digitizer editor functions such as freehand rotating and cropping multiple areas to a line
- Updated copy/paste functionality that allows the selection of a destination layer when pasting
- A new tool for calculating the cost of premium data purchases based on export area and required resolution
As with all previous releases, version 14 expands the list of file formats that can be imported and exported by Global Mapper and offers support for many new and updated projections and datums. All of the improvements and enhancements are listed in the What's New document that is displayed during installation.
The official release of Global Mapper is planned for mid September, 2012. For questions about upgrading or network licensing, email gmorders@bluemarblegeo.com.
Global Mapper's development is driven in large part by comments and suggestions from existing customers. To that end, we encourage your feedback on this latest release and we look forward to providing the GIS functionality that you need in future versions.

the changes are only above? voronoi diagram or histograms?? if it is, I disappointed (essipecally voronoi diagrams)
-
Those are just some of the most significant features, the full What's New of changes so far is 7 pages long! There is more to come too before the official v14.0 release in mid September. However Voronoi diagrams and histograms likely won't be there as there aren't nearly as many request for those features as many of the others.
Thanks,
Mike

we have lots of gm13 license also I introduced gm to the department, Gm is so important for us in the projects, we dont need expensive gıs software through gm(also we use expensive software but rarely), voronoi diagrams is so basic and even there is in simple, free gıs software
while the gm is our main software ,we are the disappointed lack of voronoi diagram, the only change or new we expected is voronoi diagram in gm -
I have added Voronoi/Thiessen polygon generation support to our target list for the v14.1 release later this year, so hopefully it will be in there. It was just added to the task list (at your request) somewhat recently and we already had a pretty set list of task items for v14.0 by then, plus there haven't been many user requests for this feature so the priority hasn't been very high compared to the work involved.
Thanks,
Mike

ok so thanks for add the voronoi in the 14.01 Ithink we will upgrade to 14
-
I didn't see a JNX raster export option in the Beta. Is that still on the agenda for GM 14?
-
JNX export is in the beta. It is part of the GPS->Send Raster Maps to Garmin devices menu command and also an available option using File->Export->Export Raster Data as Garmin JNX/KMZ.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Can we register this version with our GM 13 licenses ? It doesn't work for me. -
Can you comment on the price for a 1)new license and 2)upgrade will be for this version? Same as v13 or?
-
Despite the huge increase in functionality the pricing for v14 is the same as for v13.
Thanks,
Mike

Your v13 license won't work for v14. You can request a trial license from the registration dialog that appears at startup. If you want to go ahead and upgrade contact gmorders@bluemarblegeo.com.

Mike this may be a stupid question but are the file formats the same ? If I save workspaces and catalogs in V14, can I still use them in V13 ?
-
Yep, the formats are forwards and backwards compatible, so you can use v14 workspaces in earlier versions.
Thanks,
Mike

what are the news as geologically in gm14? new lines, units?
by the way with respect to "voronoi diagram"(calculate reserve via polygon method) I have solved GM and Quantum GIS(I'd like the use only GM)
thanks... -
There aren't any new geology-related line types built into Global Mapper, but there really aren't any active todo items related to this either, other than a request to support new line styles in general.
Thanks,
Mike

Dear Mike,
Didn't find how to access at the "What's new list" in this new release ?
Does it include the ability to create map catalog using scripts ?
Thanks
Regards -
The What's New is displayed when you install and saved in your install folder. There is a new EDIT_MAP_CATALOG command. See http://www.globalmapper.com/helpv14/ScriptReference.html#cmd_edit_map_catalog for details.
Thanks,
Mike
