3D View error

Just installed the 64bit version of GlobalMapper 13.2.2 over my previous version and discovered that the 3D View is no longer working. I just get a blank screen with no error messages. The 3D View map controls (pan and zoom) work on the original 2D map window but the £D View map window is empty and remains so.

What's going wrong?

Any help appreciated - I really need the 3D View to work.

Regards

Richard

    Richard,

If you hit the Home button does the display show up? If you open up the 3D view options dialog how are things set up there, such as the vertical exaggeration? Also what type of data (i.e. terrain surface, 3D vector, etc.) do you have loaded?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. All helpful suggestions but tried them all and none worked.

I'm just working with some ESRI Shapefiles and a backdrop image.

Then brainwave: I wonder if the 3D view knows what to do with ESRI shapefiles that don't have z-values - I would have thought it would assign them a default height of 0 and that I would then be bale to see them in perspective which is what I was expecting but that is just my assumption! What if the developer had a different idea?

Turns out the 3D Viewer works normally if you add a DTM/DEM layer which is fine, obvious in retrospect and I can certainly live with it not having a default height.

Sorry to waste your time and thanks for a great piece of software by the way!

    Richard,

You have to assign elevations to the features if they don't have them already for them to show up in the 3D viewer. To do this, just select and edit them all and add an ELEVATION attribute with a value of 0 (or whatever).

    Thanks,
