Why must I Click Twice on GM Tools?
Roger Edrinn

One of the biggest frustrations for me using Global Mapper is the need to click and click again to use a tool.
If I have any dialog open such as Control Center, I can click a layer check box and have one-click response. However, the reverse is not true, going from the CC to the main window of GM requires a click and then a second click to activate any tool. This is a giant frustration, read PITA!!!!
Does anyone else have this frustration?
Please make GM one-click.

That turned out to be a pretty easy change. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper9.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v9.xx installation folder to give it a try.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike

I just downloaded your latest build and it doesn't seem to fix the problem.

Justin,
Are you seeing this issue in v9.02? It is no longer happening to me. What exactly are you doing that is requiring 2 clicks?
Thanks,
Mike

Yes, I am seeing this in 9.02. When I have the control center activated and try to click on a button such as the pan button, it only activates the main Global Mapper window and then I have to click once more to use the pan tool. It works fine the other direction, I can go from the main window and the turn on a layer in a single click.

Justin,
You are correct that selecting one of the toolbar buttons still requires 2 clicks. What does not require an extra click now is actually using the active tool in the map window when another window was active. This seems like a more common operation (i.e. zooming or panning directly using the mouse without an extra click) than selecting an entirely new tool.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike

Ok, that is still a significant improvement.
Thanks again,

This was/is the jist of my OP. So again, I ask why 2 clicks? Any plans to "fix" this?global_mapper wrote: »You are correct that selecting one of the toolbar buttons still requires 2 clicks.

I'll take a look to see why the fix for the main map view did not work for the toolbar. Hopefully it will be an easy fix to make a single click work there as well. I'll let you know what I find.
Thanks,
Mike

It turned out to be a very easy fix to make the toolbar single click as well. I have placed a new build of Global Mapper 9 with the fix at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper9.zip . Simply download that file and extract the contents over your existing v9.xx installation to give it a try.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
