Sounds like maybe you want to create a custom elevation shader to color it differently for different ranges. Do this on the shader dropdown on the toolbar (select to create a new shader), then define the ranges and colors of interest.

I tried with the option "alter elevation data" range by range. After i've exported the layers in geotif format. And finally i've opened the geotif in mapinfo with transparency for the white colour. Not so easy to do.
Unfortunatelly, i didn't see your reply. I'll try this way next time !
