Accessing a KML network link?

I read here that GM cannot yet import data from a KML network link. Is this a feature that is likely to be added in the near future? I can see it being very handy in the "Download online data>Add new source" drop-down menu.

We are slowly adding support for external KML features. If you have a good KML sample with network links I can take a look and see how hard it would be to add support.
