Global Mapper UserTrusted User
Hello,
I have just installed GlobalMapper on a computer wich has several user session.
I was had to register GlobalMapper on each session, although I was on the same computer ! Is there not a local configuration and not a user configuration for these information ?
GlobalMapper is always used on a single session computer ?
Thanks,

What you need to do is create a regkey.txt text file and place it in the Global Mapper installation folder on your computer. Make the first line of the text file contain your registration name and the second line your registration key. Then when Global Mapper runs it will find that registration file and use it rather than looking in the user section of the Windows registry.

Thanks !
To the next GlobalMapper setup (soon !) -
I used to follow the steps described above to register Global Mapper 12 for each session of the computer:
- create a regkey.txt text file, with the first line containing the registration name and the second line the registration key
- place it in the Global Mapper installation folder on the computer.
It worked fine on Windows XP machines, where I could use it with a silent install. But when I use the same file, and put it in the same place on a Windows Seven computer, Global Mapper still asks me to register. I can't do it "manually", because I want it to be registered for all the users of the computer, not just for me (I'm an administrator, not a user). How can I do that? -
If you don't have write grants in system directory, Windows 7 create a virtual directory for your session.
Verify that in user session the regkey.txt file is available in GlobalMapper installation folder. -
Sorry, the regkey.txt hadn't been copied at all, because the silent install didn't execute. I thought it did because someone else launched a manual installation without the good registering file. If I add the correct file in the directory, the program becomes "registered". So my problem is rather the silent install that doesn't work, but I suppose I'll have to open a new thread for that.

That is likely what the issue is, the virtual folder created when you try and write to the Program Files folder. In later versions of Global Mapper the licensing is completely different and is stored in the 'All Users' section of the system, so only one user needs to license per machine. You can also use shared network licenses as well, which weren't available in v12.
Thanks,
Mike
