Error finding address Status Code 503
Matt
Global Mapper UserTrusted User
Is something going on with searching by address for the downloadable data? Last few days I have been getting Error Code 503. I've tried it with GM 11, 12 and 13. Same error for each.

Matt,
It was doing that early last week too. The problem with the server was eventually fixed, so I would assume this problem will fix itself soon too.
Thanks,
Mike

Any other ideas? Searching by address still not working. GM says
Error finding address
(then it lists the address)
Address search query failed with status code 503
AddressFinder.cpp -417
Version v 13.00
Again, I get the same error with 11, 12 and 13. -
Matt,
I added support for a new address search to v12 and v13 builds so you can get this fixed for those versions. Seems the old server isn't coming back up. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper13.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v13.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v13 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper13_64bit.zip .
I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper12.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v12.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v12 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper12_64bit.zip .
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks, that worked.

I'm having the same problem tonight and I don't know if it's a bug in GM or a problem with the server. I'm getting the error whenever I search a city name that contains a quote but other than that it works fine.
Error downloading file. Download of http://local.yahooapis.com/MapsService/V1/geocode?appid=YD-2CW17vE_JX2RBTAil9vgRX2QkeerGBZPbc7_wMw-&location=L'islet,+quebec failed with status code 503. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Error xmlns="urn:yahoo:api"> The following errors were detected: <Message>backend fetch error 404</Message> </Error> <!-- ws03.ydn.ac4.yahoo.com uncompressed/chunked Fri Oct 28 19:32:17 PDT 2011 --> WebUtils.cpp - 636 Version: v13.00 Build Time: Oct 17 2011 11:55:09

What is the specific city name that you are searching on? I might just need to fix up what you are providing before I send it along.
Thanks,
Mike

I tried 3 different ones
L'Islet,Qc
L'Ascension,Qc
L'Annonciation,Qc
Maybe the API requires quotes to be passed as " ? -
I updated the address search so that apostrophes are ok.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike, I've been having this same problem with V 11.01. I have been so busy that I had all but given up until I found this thread.
Address search query failed with status code 503
AddressFinder.cpp -420
Version v 11.01
Build Time Jan 11 2010
Do you have a fix for me?
Thanks,
-Steve -
Steve,
There is also an updated v11 build with a fix. You first need to install the last official v11 release from the appropriate link below:
32-bit: http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11_setup.exe
64-bit: http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11_setup_64bit.exe
Then apply the patch over that. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v11.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v11 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11_64bit.zip .
Thanks,
Mike

The NASA/JPL server that hosts the SRTM, ASTER GDEM, Landsat, and 1-arc-second NED (but not the 1/3rd arc second, which we host directly) went down a few days ago. Hopefully they will have it back up soon, but we haven't been able to get ahold of anyone there yet for a confirmation of what is happening or when the server will be back up.
Thanks,
Mike
