Global Mapper Software LLC is pleased to announce the availability
of the second beta of Global Mapper v13.00 at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper13_setup.exe (or get the 64-bit version at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper13_setup_64bit.exe). Just download that file and run it to install v13.00. It will install
alongside any existing Global Mapper version, so you don't have to worry about losing what you're currently working on.

Among the numerous significant changes in this v13.00 beta from v12.02 are the following:

- Added support for loading ESRI File Geodatabase (GDB) data sets.
- Added support for generating density grids from point features in a loaded layer. This density grid can be based on either just a count of the point features or any numeric attribute value associated with the points.
- Added support for joining a file with attributes to the attribute table of an existing loaded spatial layer against a common attribute.
- Added option under View menu to zoom to the same location in Google Earth.
- Added option to transform layer coordinates either by a manually specified coordinate transformation or with a control point file when shifting coordinates for selected layers from the Control Center in addition to just shifting a fixed distance.
- Added a new option to the Advanced Feature Creation submenu of the Digitizer Tool to create lines connecting selected points to selected line features along the shortest path between the point and any of the selected lines.
- Added option to easily draw rotated area and line rectangles using the Digitizer Tool through the 3-point draw method.
- Added option to Digitizer Tool to automatically move selected point features to the nearest point on selected line features.
- Added support for exporting loaded terrain data to SRTM HGT format files.
- Added support for loading SegY format files.

All of the other numerous changes are listed in the What's New document that is displayed during installation. Prior to the v13.00 release we also plan on adding several other features, such as support for performing math on attribute values support.

Here is a temporary registration key so that you can try everything out in the beta for 14 days:

RegName: DEMO_09142011
RegCode: 1059126562

While we plan on officially releasing v13.00 in 1-2 weeks, for those of you that just can't wait to purchase new licenses and upgrades to existing licenses, you can purchase those now from
http://www.globalmapper.com/product/downloadv13.htm . Pricing for upgrades from v12 is $149 US per license and pricing for new licenses are $399 US for a single license with price breaks for multi-license
purchases.

Let me know if you any problems or questions.

Thanks,

Mike

    Hi Mike,
Does this version (exe) install over an exsisting 13.01 installation (already registered) or do I have to use the zip and replace method?
    Greetings, Stefan
(PS including v13 new build notifications with teh v12 new build notifications would be handy ...)

Yes this will update an existing v13 beta installer. It is a full installer too, not just a patch build.

The v13 and v12 builds are updated independently and only a small fraction of users are on v13 yet, so the announcements are separate. Typically new special builds are in response to a particular issue in a particular version.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Mike,

I've been playing with v13. Are there any plan to improve the slope analysis features? For instance, it would be helpful to be able to show a wider range of slopes (rather than just a min and max) We sometimes need to show 3 of 4 different slope categories. Also, while I am wishing. I would love it if I could export the slope analysis as a vector file. I have tried the slope "cut off" line method in the past, it really doesn't work. If it were possible to export, exactly what I see when using the slope shader, that would be a major time saver.

There aren't any plans to improve the slope feature right now, but we could add some in the future. You can actually get to what you are after right now, just use File->Export Elevation Data and choose to export a Float/Grid file, then check the option to export slope values rather than elevations. Then, load the new file back in and your slopes will now be gridded and treated as elevation, so you can then apply any custom shader that you want to them. You could then also do things like contour generation from that slope file to get vectors.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike
