Digitize polygons using split polygon method

As far as I can understand it you currently split polygons buy using a 2 point line, it would be a lot faster to digitize polygons if you could split them using digitized lines, we use this method in ArcGIS and it works well, but I would rather spend licenses on global mapper than ArcGIS.

    Ian,

It is on the todo list, but a bit harder as not supported by out current library. However I think I have an idea how to do it (basically insert vertices where line intersects, then do low-tech split at those vertices. I'll let you know if I can get that working.

    Thanks,

    Ian,

Good news! I was able to add a new option for splitting areas against a selected line to the Digitizer Tool. This is a v13 feature, but I have it available in a v12 build (it will stop working in v12 once v13 is out). I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper12.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v12.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v12 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper12_64bit.zip .

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike
