Shader selection "lags" when saving image from 3D viewer

I have an elevation model which I bring into the 3D viewer. If I change the shader in the main view, the shader also updates in the 3D view. If I save the 3D view as an image, it will use the shader that was selected _before_ the current one.
However, once I update the 3D view (eg by rotating, zooming or moving) and then save the image, it will use the current shader in the saved image.
Just an observation.
