Hi,
I have enabled the "The Iconize Road Names on Import (Some Formats)" option, then loaded a roads shape file and assigned the specific attribute ("Name1" in my case) for name to show. But the labels are shown as a plain string and not inside the "shield" icon.
What did I do wrong?

Thanks for help,
Yigal

    Yigal,

Currently the road iconization is only done at load time and not when you change the label attribute, although I can potentially change that to also work when changing the label attribute. Do you have a sample file that I can try it out with? You can send it to support@globalmapper.com if you don't want to post it here.

    Thanks,

I have updated the iconization to work when changing the label attribute (assuming that the actual label changes). Since in your case the Name1 attribute is basically the same as Name, you will need to change the labeling to something else, press Apply, then change it back to Name or Name1. You will also have to make the line type for the layer some kind of road type (like 'Major/US Highway') as the iconization only applies to road types.

I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper12.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v12.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit v12 version there is a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper12_64bit.zip .

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike
