Any combine terrain layer tips?

I have some high detail, noisy data, that I'd like to smooth out some with some corrected SRTM data. Does everyone use the average option, and leave the grid spacing to the default, or is there some other trick to it?

    I think that the average option when using the Combine Terrains menu command would be your best bet. The default grid spacing should be the minimum of the two layers, so it should match your highly detailed layer and be what you want.
