Premature end of JPEG file

I sometimes get the error "Premature end of JPEG file" when loading a JPEG file. What does this mean and is it possible to fix this?

    It sounds like you have a corrupt or incomplete JPG file. Are other applications able to display the JPG file without problems? If so, if you can send me a sample JPG file with the problem I can take a look.

    I opened around 400 files, so it was difficult to see which one. But I managed to find out that the JPEG- files themselves were corrupt. So no problem with GlobalMapper. I just didn`t understand the error- message. Thanks
