Flat DEM @-1000m

Howdy all. I have being trying to generate a DEM from contour data but it keep returning a totally flat DEM at a altitude of -1000m. The extents of the flat DEM match up with the extents of the contour data.
I have told it to "Get Elevations from Attribute "Elevation"", everything is in meters. I have also tried loading up a nearby contour set and it generates as expected when as far as i can see all options are the same (although the data does come from a different source).
Can someone please help before I tear all of my hair out? Thanks

Is it possible that your contour lines have per-vertex elevations with a value of -1000? If so any elevation attribute would be ignored in favor of the per-vertex elevations. You could get rid of those by exporting to a format like Shapefile with the option to create 3D features unchecked, then load that back in.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike
