Another small GNIS anoyance

I've noticed when using GNIS data that the character set displayed on the map is not the same as used in the editing tools (or on the bottom bar when you hover over the feature). Some Western European accented characters in the file turn into different characters on the Map, i.e. Île (Latin Capital Letter I with Circumflex) in the file/edit tool turns into the IBM ╬le (Box Drawings Double Vertical And Horizontal) on the Map among others. Don't know why this happens but it does cause more work editing the accented characters out.

This has to do with the font and character set used. You might try using some different fonts for your display labels in Global Mapper and see if you can't get something that works better with that particular character set.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike
