I m trying to export the palettized (20 values) raster image , a landuse map, to ARC ASCII grid file. GM won't let me do that. Is there any way to force or fake it to do that?
Is there a way to convert an raster to elevation raster. by asignigning real or bogus elevation values to palette colors?

Some other tool I use want me to import landuse from the ARC grid file.

While there isn't a direct way to do this, what you can do is change your palette to a grayscale palette by editing the palette of the layer say that palette index 0 is RGB(0,0,0), palette index 1 is RGB(1,1,1), etc. Then export that to an 8-bit grayscale BIL file. Then, unload everything and load the 8-bit BIL back in and indicate that it is an elevation file. You can then export that to an Arc ASCII Grid file.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike
