Screen Capture problems

I did a capture screen contents on a tiff file in GM and the tiff file once blown up lost it's DPI attributes. It looked to be a very dumped down version especially once you really zoomed in close to the tiff that was saved. I can zoom in on the original tiff and it is much sharper then the one I saved with the capture screen contents. Has anyone else on the board experianced the same problem? TIA in advance, Mike

    Mike,

The Capture Screen Contents menu command by default saves an image at the pixel size of the screen, so when you zoom in it will quickly become pixelated. You need to use the File->Export Raster->Export GeoTIFF menu commands to maintain the full resolution of your original data.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Thanks for the help Mike. I need to crop a piece out of the original Geo referenced tiff. When I used the File > Export Raster > Export Geo Tiff method I get the whole image again. How would I crop out an area and keep in Geo referenced with the original sharpness of the original? Thanks again Mike, Mike

    Mike,

You can use the Export Bounds tab when exporting the GeoTIFF to specify what portion of the data to export to the new file (the default is all loaded data).

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,
