Map layout margins problem

I can't seem to get Global Mapper to remember the margins that I set in the Map Layout tool. I've tried setting the margins and then exiting Global Mapper. Then when I restart Global Mapper, the original margins are back in place. I've even tried using the "Save to File" and "Load from File" buttons, and the margins aren't being saved/restored from a file either. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance.

What version of GM are you using? I just tried in the latest v11.02 build and everything seemed to work ok in regards to the map layout margins being remembered. Note that these are also saved in workspace files, so if you load a workspace file the margins from that workspace will be used.

I am using v11.02 build Apr 17 2010 15:09:53. I just tried again this morning, and it still wasn't working for me ... let me describe the steps to recreate...

1. Load a workspace file
2. Change the margins to 1.9" left, 1.1" bottom, 0.1" top, 0.1" right
3. Save the workspace file
4. Close global mapper (exit completely)
5. Start global mapper again
6. Reload workspace file (uses the wrong margins -- 0.1" left, 1.1" bottom, 0.1" top, 0.1" right)

Perhaps it is just a problem with the left margin? Ah in fact, that does seem to be the problem. The left margin is being set to whatever the right margin was set to! The problem only manifests itself whenever you exit global mapper completely and then reopen global mapper. The left margin will be set to whatever the right margin was set to last time.

Ah you've nailed it! When the map layout was saved the right margin was being written to the left margin field. For most users those are the same so no one noticed, but if they are different you certainly will! I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11.zip with this fixed for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v11.xx installation folder to give it a try. If you are using the 64-bit version, there is a new build available at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper11_64bit.zip .
