Anybody have a particular site, even paysite, that they could recommend for topo, elev, blocks, etc. We are a growing company and now are in a position that we need to upgrade.

Where are you located, this forum attracts users from all over the world, so I never assume? If in the USA then the National Map Seamless Server is a great source for free data. Global Mapper can convert the elevation data into contour lines at any interval you specify.

I have no idea what a block is.

I am in US. What I mean by blocks would be county blocks. Thanks for the quick response.

You must live where the term "county block" has some meaning, doesn't in Colorado. I wonder if you're not referring to Range and Township info?

Should mention two other data sources:
    1. At the front of Global Mapper, simply click the data radio button, it'll send you to a whole world of free and fee data.
    2. Google is your friend, I find most of my data that way.

I think you may find what you are looking for at the US Census Bureau website. Check out their Tiger/Line shapefiles. Here is a link to where you can download block and block groups for Alabama:

    http://www2.census.gov/cgi-bin/shapefiles2009/state-files?state=01

Look at the links on the left. Also, if you select a county you can download info for a specific county.
