Extracting Single-band from 4-band

A common task I have to accomplish is to open up a 4-band TIF, project into another coordinate system, then create a 3-band RGB TIF containing bands 1-3 and a single-band NIR TIF containing band 4. Currently I am only able to create a 3 or 4 band image.

If extracting an arbitrary number (and order) of bands from a multi-band TIF could be put on a to-do list, with scripting support, I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks.

    Chad,

You can already do exactly that in Global Mapper. To get your single band image, just use the Band Setup tab to make the red, green, and blue color channels all be from band 4, then export a grayscale TIFF. This call all be done from a script as well.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Thanks Mike. I never realized I could do that. Problem solved.
