How can I use shapefile polygon as measurement?

Hi,

I'm using GM10.02.

I would like to use a shapefile containing polygones, and use these polygones as measurement for cut and fill with topography. How can I do this?

I would also like to know if it is somehow possible to make a cut and fill between two grid elevation DEM.

And lastly, Can I create a DEM based on polygones having an elevation for each polygones?

Many thanks again,

Greg

    Greg,

To do a cut-and-fill based on a loaded polygon, simply select the polygon with the Digitizer Tool, then right click and select the option to measure the volume. This will allow a cut-and-fill volume analysis based on the loaded terrain within that area.

You can combine two DEM layers using the File->Combine Terrain menu command. This allows combining using lots of different operations, like difference, average, min/max, etc.

Finally, you can easily create terrain based on polygons by selecting them with the Digitizer Tool, right-clicking, then selected the Advanced Feature Creation option to create/flatten terrain.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike
