Any plans to support the Microsoft Access .mdb file format? Are their any technical or other barriers?

Just received a needed file via a CD in the mail. Yep .mdb.

Thanks

Global Mapper already supports loading ESRI personal geodatabase files in .mdb format, which seems to be by far the most common use of .mdb files for geo-data. Have you tried loading it into Global Mapper?

That must mean it is some other unsupported layout. The MDB format can contain data is any layout as it is a generic database format, so there isn't really any way to generically support MDB import for geospatial display. You can of course just look at the data itself in something like MS Access and perhaps save out some tables with spatial information to text files and load those.

    Thanks,

Just FYI *.mdbs are also used in ZI/Intergraphs Geomedia - and ofcourse they are proprietary files, but it is possible to export features from them to another format (shape etc). If you do not have Geomedia I might be able to take a look at it and export features if you want?
