Global Mapper won't open Network Drive

Using my network as a sample of one, GM will not open a file on my network drive unless another program has done so first.

Excel will do this, so to Photoshop, but GM requires Windows Explorer or another program to first access the drive before it will see folders or files. If I open GM and click the last four files at the bottom of the File dialog, GM will error if I've not already accessed the network drive.

While admittedly a minor bug, a bug none-the-less.

BTW, I probably should mention my PC and network do a cold start at least a dozen times a day. Solar electric has it's limitations.

Is this only when you select a file from the recently used list or also when you select a file with the File->Open Data File menu command? It sounds like your drive is powering down or something, so when Global Mapper goes to open a file there it no longer appears to exist. I'm guessing when you actually explore through the Windows file open interface that Windows somehow knows this and powers up the drive so that it can be used. I'm really not sure how I would be able to tell that from within GM.

    Thanks,

Appears I'm wrong on this, theirs a first. ;)

I did a fresh start and attempted to open an Excel file on the Network, got the same error. So it appears GM is no different and I have to use Windows Explorer to first access the drive before ANY program can open a file.

    Oh well.
