Combining Areas; Outer Border of multiple Areas

Global Mapper User
Hi,
I've got a shapefile consisting of several areas, adjoining each other. I want to create a new, big area which should contain some or all of these source areas.
Or alternatively a line which is the outer border of my selected areas. How to do this with GM?

There really isn't an automatic way to do this in Global Mapper (although we do hope to add something like this in the v11 release later this year). For now you would have to turn your areas into lines, then split them so that you can select just the outer segments, then select all of those and join them, then turn that back into an area. Or you could just manually trace the new outline if that is easier.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike
