Dynamic shader

Hi Mike,

is it possible to make something like a dynamic color shader which changes with the elevation values shown in the view port. Each zoom level would show the same color range.
Now I have to alter the minimum and maximum values in the "elevation options" under "alter elevation Values" tab to show the full color range at every zoom level.

Thanks,
Jürgen

    Jürgen,

Unfortunately something like this would be more difficult as GM would first have to analyze all of the elevation data in the view, then start a render once the min/max elevation values are known. This can be something for future consideration though.

    Thanks,

I would love to see something like this as well. I am always making different custom shaders to do this for specific sites, but it would be very helpful to have a some type of dynamic shader.

I agree, a dynamic shader would be extremely useful.

Is there a way to provide a manual-dynamic shader? You could add some slider bars to the elevation legend. When you zoom in or out GM won't change anything, but the user can manually adjust the sliders to just show the elevation range they are looking at. This would allow the quick change in shader options without having GM to analyze everything when zooming.

We have a planned feature on our todo list to use dynamic elevation shading so that the colors are based on the on-screen elevation range rather than the total range. This will hopefully be in the v15 release if not sooner.

    Thanks,

    Hello!!

I work with digital models that have an important variation in altimetry. When one analyzes the survey in an "EVERYTHING" the shader works well, but when approaching different sectors whose dimension are similar, everything seems to have the same color. Dynamic handling of the maximum and minimum levels based on the current view would be very good

    Hello,

This feature was implemented quite a while ago. In Global Mapper 21, on the Configuration | Vertical Options tab, put a check mark next to "Color Elevations Based on Visible Elevation Values" near the top of the window. As you zoom in and out, the range on the Elevation Legend will be updated based on the visible data.

    Cheers,
    Bob
