Hi Mike,

Came across the program MOAGU (at Moagu) which looks interesting. Can I do this already by some process within GM? I have cgpsmapper installed on my computer.

Thanks,
ALAN

    Alan,

That does look pretty cool if it can really put raster maps on Garmin devices that don't really support true raster maps by creating vector maps that simulate a raster. You can of course turn normal vector maps into Garmin maps using GM and cGPSMapper (see http://www.globalmapper.com/helpv10/cGPSMapper.pdf), but you can automatically convert raster maps to vector format.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Their are two products that will do this: Maogu and Mapwel. In a word: Dreadful!!!

I tried converting aerial/satellite photos into Garmin readable format. Global Mapper created great enhanced images as an input, then I converted those. I believe the root issue is color levels, way to few. I think their are only 80 or so available colors. That and the files were huge.

Both products were intended for raster map conversion, think USGS topos, not photographs. Limited color space and less information for a manageable file size.
