Exporting to MP

On pages 37 & 38 of the GM pdf manual, Greg Riker explains how to add new point styles into GM8. Can I safely assume that if I add MP_TYPE and the hex attribute value from the appendicies of the cgpsmapper manual, that upon GM export to MP, GM will attach that hex value to the exported points? These points will then be recognized by the cgpsmapper compiler as valid points?

Conversely, if a point, line, area is NOT defined in the appendicies as a hex value, even if GM were to export it, the cgpsmapper compiler would not recognize it, and the point, line, area would NOT be included in the resulting img file?

Non-recognized hex values require the external TYP definition to appear?

Their is a conflict in my mind between PPs 2 & 3, please straighten me out if I've mis-stated.

Thanks

Most Global Mapper classifications already have a default MP_TYPE value assigned to them internally. When you export a feature to a MP file, the MP_TYPE value used comes from one of the following places (in order of priority):

    1) A MP_TYPE attribute value explicitly added to the feature's attribute list
    2) A MP_TYPE attribute value in the feature type's default attribute list
    3) The default internal MP_TYPE assigned for that classification.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,
