I may just have missed something just upgrade from v8 v10.
If I load a shape file then change its "feature type" then save it under a new name, when I load the new file, it comes up as "unknown line type".
If I load the same new file under v8 it displays correctly.
I have attached a sample file.

    RWB,

The problem is that your data includes a MTFCC attribute which identifies the Shapfiles as a Tiger/Line 2007 (or later) Shapefile which has special processing to determine type. However, none of the Tiger fields are filled in, so nothing is assigned. I went ahead and made Global Mapper check for a GM_TYPE attribute as well and if that is present will go ahead and do the non-Tiger attribute-based assignment as well. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper10.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v10.xx installation folder to give it a try.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mike
