Generating Shapfile Patterns

Hi Guys
I'm a newbie here so excuse the amatureness.
I am trying to find out how to generate the following pattern of ESRI Shape file polygons.
They are made up of eight 45-45-90 right triangle polygons. In the pattern of what is called Tetrakis square tiling. See Example Attached

There really isn't any way to automatically generate that in Global Mapper. What I would suggest is perhaps creating a text file with the triangle points and loading that using the File->Open Generic ASCII Data File menu command. The text file might look like the following (I just provided the first 2 triangles at the top left, with the origin at the center point):
CLOSED=YES
-1,1
0,1
0,0
CLOSED=YES
0,0
-1,0
-1,1
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thanks,
Mike
