Exporting Areas to DXF

Hi,

I do a lot of work converting from GML into something useable in AutoCAD/Vectorworks, but havent been able to find a way of preserving the fill areas/hatches when exporting via DXF...

For instance, a simple polyline, hatched with a solid fill, created in AutoCAD and saved as a 2004 .dxf, when brought into globalmapper, and then re-exported as a dxf, and reloaded into AutoCAD, loses its solid fill.

Is there any way around this? maybe a different route using a different vector based output format from globalmapper?

Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

Global Mapper doesn't really support saving any kind of complex area fill styles into the DXF format. If you can save to another format like MapInfo MIF/MID that has better styling support that should work. I'm not sure if AutoCAD can read one of those in though.

    Thanks,

Even a simple solid area fill style through .dxf would be useful, just to get it into AutoCAD....

I suppose this can go on the wish list!

I'll add it to the wish list, but DXF is a bit of bear. I wish AutoCAD supported more formats with more of a map bent to them.
