Hello

Mike

probably I may soon migrate one version of my map application to Linux platform.
isnt a way for using your SDK in Linux os ? (with interfaces or ...)

if answer is no ,do you have such version in future ? (when ?)
//since your codes are in C++ i think there is no serious problem for converting
{ or dos your company sales SDK full source code ? }

do you know any SDK that be in Linux and support ecw formats and
line of side and coverage area ?

Thanks a lot .

There are not any plans to port the SDK to Linux (it should run under WINE in Linux those as a Windows app). While the SDK is in C++, it contains a lot of Windows-specific stuff that would be very time-consuming to port to another platform (namely all of the drawing code).

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi,
I've tried using Global Mapper 6 using Wine, but I can't seem to be able to register the product. Of course I'm a registered user and it works fine on a Windows PC.
    Any idea why?

    Vincent,

I have no idea why this wouldn't be working on WINE. You might try the file-based registration to see if it works. To try that, what you need to do is create a regkey.txt text file and place it in the Global Mapper installation folder on your computer. Make the first line of the text file contain your registration name and the second line your registration key. Then when Global Mapper runs it will find that registration file and use it rather than looking in the user section of the Windows registry.

    Thanks,

    Mike

I have been able to register Global Mapper 10 using the procedure you suggested. Thanks,

    Any new developments on this?
I would like to migrate to Linux but two GIS Desktop software are holding me back.

Unfortunately, I test this yet. Does it surely work?

    Hi Robert,

Thank you for using Global Mapper.

There have not been any changes in this area. We are not planning a native Linux version of Global Mapper or the Global Mapper SDK.

    Cheers,

    Bob

    Hello Bob,
    That's good to know.

I would like to hear from someone who managed to use a recent GM version on Linux, with WINE, or something else. I need to make this happen, so I am looking for options.
