Deleting Duplicate Vectors - A Possible Strategy

Looking at the screenshot below, notice that a minority of the roads have no duplicate, see the upper-left corner. I wish to only retain these roads and delete all duplicate roads. My strategy, please comment:

1] Load the base layer, modify all roads to be red or other visible color.
2] Load the second road layer, now turn off the base layer, select all roads on the second layer and delete all.
3] Using the Configuration Vector Tab, show deleted vectors.
4] With the base layer on, individually mark the non-duplicate vectors as undelete.
5] Turn off the base layer and export the undeleted vectors to a new shapefile for later use.

Is this workable? Have I missed something? Any tips?
Can I export the new shapefile in NAD83, solving another problem?

Ignore the offset error, Mike straightened me out on my error in another thread.

Thanks

Yes, that method sounds quite workable. You can also export in NAD83. Just make sure that your data is set to NAD83 on the Projection tab of the Configuration dialog prior to doing your export and that is the datum that the new file will be created in.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Thanks,

Is their an UnDelete shortcut key or do I have to click the undelete button on the dialog? Also, can I highlight more than one vector at a time?

    Thanks

There is not an undelete shortcut key, but you can easily select multiple features at once in the Digitizer Tool, then right click and select the Undelete option to undelete them all at once. To select multiple features, simply either drag a box or hold down the Ctrl key when clicking to have the clicked features added to the current selection.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

That's going to make this a whole lot easier. I'm glad I asked. :)

This works really well, especially holding Cntl and selecting many vectors before undeleting.

    While I'm on a roll and Christmas is coming . . .

The show deleted vectors are really faint and the thin red select is also a bit faint. Could those be made more visible?

    Thanks

Just call me Santa Claus. I have added 2 new line types ('Deleted Line' and 'Selected Line') to the Line Styles tab of the Configuration dialog (they are near the bottom). You can now edit those to change the drawing style used by both deleted and selected features. I have placed a new build at http://www.globalmapper.com/global_mapper9.zip with the change for you to try. Simply download that file and extract the contents into your existing v9.xx installation folder to give it a try.

Santa Mike, that sure worked well. :)
